Day Seven: In Which We Spend Another Day At Sea, and I Hope My Camera Doesn't Explode.

We start off the day with a talk by Don "Ducky" Williams, Disney's only character illustrator.  He gave a nice talk on how he got a job as a Disney Artist by trying for years, sending them something like 100 drawings per week.  While he spoke, he sketched numerous characters which were then given away to 20 lucky ticket holders.  Sadly, we were not any of them.

I don't take quite as many photos today as usual, as I'm trying to let the camera dry out.  The photoguy at the onboard photo sales place says that the best thing would be to not use it at all, as any usage while it's wet could just damage it more, but...I can't just not take anything, so we try to keep it minimal.

After lunch, we attended an origami animals session.  I am not sure whether it was the fault of the instructor or the creator, but our frogs looked distinctly mutated.

A tour of the Galley was on the schedule for the afternoon, which was fairly interesting.  The galley they showed us extended all the way from Lumiere's to Parrot Cay, so about 1/2 the length of the ship.

In the Pastry section, they give us each a cookie, making it our favorite part of the tour.  The pastryguy said that there is someone making pastry virtually 24 hours a day for all the meals onboard, and that most of it is made from scratch.  We consider volunteering to come sample 24 hours a day, but then recall that we already think wistfully of the times when we used to have a waist.  Also a neck.

After some more lolling about, I attend the evening show which is Ricky Kalmon--comedian and hypnotist.  He calls people up, puts them under, and gives them suggestions like "when I say this word, you will think you smell something bad."  I'm not sure I entirely buy the process, as it seems likely the volunteers are self-selecting for exhibitionist traits anyway, and nothing he asks would be out-of-place as an improv exercise for a non-hypnotized person.

Dinner tonight was Island Dinner at Parrot Cay, which was actually much better than I remember it being in the past.  The appetizer I had was seared ahi and conch ceviche, and the entree was grouper with zucchini and bay shrimp.  Everything was cooked very well and the fish tasted very fresh.

Dessert was described as some sort of s'mores cake, but the cake was actually limited to the thin layer at the bottom and the marshmallows were not really melted all that much.  It ended up being more or less marshmallows and chocolate mousse, which is on the whole, not a bad thing.

We are initially unsure as to what this is, but hope it is a shrimp of some kind.

No chocolate covered strawberries at the buffet tonight!  How wrong is that?!

Tomorrow:  Another day at sea.
